OBI MARTINS is a celebrated Screenwriter, Playwright, Content Creator & Filmmaker. He is a proud graduate of Department of Theater Arts and Music from the prestigious Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Lagos. Obi Martins started out professionally in 2009. Although an undergraduate at the time, he was driven by his great passion for the arts, the dream to make an impact and desire to maximise his potential. From writing his first stage play Secrets of Yesterday, he has gone on to live his imprints in both stage and screen. His works as a playwright has graced the prestigious stages of MUSON centre, Onikan, Lagos and Eko Hotels, Victoria Island Lagos respectively. Yaw, Basketmouth, Funke Akindele, Okey Bakassi, Nedu, Owen Gee, McAbbey, Ogbolor, Nkubi, Mayowa, Husband Material etc are some actors that have brought numerous writings of his to life. His screenplays have been adapted and produced for Television and Film by prominent production companies. Worthy of mention is Jenifa’s Diary, Yaws n Myn, Scorned, My Flatmates amongst others.
In 2015, he joined World Entertainment Television; parent company of Wazobia Max TV & Wazobia Tv and sister company of Wazobia, Cool and Nigeria Info FM radio stations as a Producer. He was elevated to the position of Head Producer in same year; where he oversaw the smooth operation of all matters relating to production. As a visiting Lecturer at the Royal Arts Academy in 2016, he impacted knowledge and shared great insight on screenwriting. It is worthy to note that some of the students under his tutelage at the time have gone on to record landmark feats. In 2017, he was privileged to serve in the capacity of Assistant Director to a prolific filmmaker; Obi Emelonye working alongside the former to produce the first Nigerian television series: Crazy Lovely Cool which is currently showing on Netflix.
As fate would have it, work related projects in the arts led him outside the shores of Nigeria where he assumed the office of Head of Content working for KLIK MEDIA TV; an online television based in Dallas Texas, United States.
In 2018 he joined Hiss Box Tv; an online streaming platform based in Los Angeles, California as Head of Content/Acquisition. Obi Martins currently works with Delta Airline as a Network Engineer
